Joel Rehbein

From nagging his parents to tackle house projects and tinkering in his dad’s woodshop to countless drawings of castles, churches, and ruins, Joel grew up with a near-insatiable need to learn from and fiddle with the environment. A graduate of Cal Poly, he focuses his work on crafting experiences and memories that reinforce people’s sense of balance and belonging. At home, he continues to evolve his garden as a respite from work and a place to reenergize his design thinking. Due to his college summers spent in Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks, he is currently conducting research to write a historical fiction novel about the architect of the Old Faithful Inn. With each project, Joel explores the interplay of architecture with the land it occupies and enhances indoor and outdoor connections to achieve meaningful placemaking. In addition to his work at WMB, he supports the community and architectural profession as a member of the City of Stockton Architectural Review Committee.
