Experience-driven education is the focus of the University of the Pacific, and the well-rounded experience includes a robust athletics program. WMB has worked with this educational institution for over 20 years, supporting the evolution of the campus, including a practice and training facility for Pacific’s court sports teams and a tennis clubhouse.
Centrally located in Stockton, the UOP campus and its collection of English Tudor Gothic style structures are a source of pride for the city. With the existing athletic buildings positioned in the heart of the campus, each project played a role in reinforcing important campus and community connections. The design of each facility reflects a modern vernacular while using familiar materials to achieve a cohesive campus-wide aesthetic. The thoughtful planning interconnects strong building forms to support the desired programming while providing distinct athletic destinations. Transparency and access to natural daylight create enticing views and bright, inviting spaces in each facility to enhance everything from team gatherings and athletic training to socialization.
These state-of-the-art facilities elevate the college’s prominent court sports programs and deepen community ties. The practice and training facility supports the growth of the campus’s popular intramural sports programming, while the tennis clubhouse is home to numerous community and competitive leagues and activities.
