As California’s oldest university, the University of Pacific has a legacy to uphold while leveraging the campus environment to enrich the academic and student life experience. This delicate balance of past, present, and future guides the design of academic and student life buildings, including projects to enhance the William Knox Holt Library, Wendell Phillips Humanities Center, School of Pharmacy, and the Office of Information Technology.
In working with the University, the WMB team carefully considers each project’s response to the notable English Tudor Gothic style of the buildings within the historic context of the campus. Each project features architectural details that clearly relate to and integrate with the original building but set forth a more contemporary expression. These significant expansion projects elevate the function, capacity, and sense of place of each learning environment and reinforce the University’s commitment to advancing its legacy while providing students with an experience-driven education.
