Fair Oaks Amphitheatre and Clubhouse

The Veterans Memorial Amphitheatre served as a cherished gathering place in the heart of Fair Oaks Village, but the community’s dedication to the arts had outgrown the 1971 facility. Basic wooden bench seating, a stage exposed to the elements, barriers to accessibility, and inadequate support facilities made the original amphitheater quaint but unsuitable. At the same time, Fair Oaks Village experienced a wave of demographic and economic renewal as younger families moved in and new businesses revitalized the commercial core.  

The Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District recognized that preserving the site's cultural legacy meant reimagining it entirely: replacing the outdated stage structure with a fully modernized complex featuring a 400-seat amphitheater, an enclosed black box theater, a multifunctional backstage, upgraded seating, and full accessibility. These investments ensure the venue can host performances year-around, rain or shine, and continue to serve as an anchor for the arts for generations to come. In tandem, WMB refreshed and enhanced the neighboring Community Clubhouse to improve access and support the diversity of programs the community desired. The project was delivered concurrent with a complete renovation of the surrounding park.

The former amphitheater has become a Performing Arts Center, centered on a stagehouse with theatrical rigging, lighting, and AV for drama, music and community events. The full proscenium opens and closes to create flexible performance space. Supporting spaces were designed for flexibility, configurable as greenrooms or multipurpose community spaces. The venue continues to be a central gathering place in the community, now with modern features and facilities providing the capacity to support a variety of programming needs.
